My favorite part of this project was drawing the designs for the stamps because the topic was very broad and there was many different directions in which you could with it. For my least favorite part, I would probably say creating the designs because at times there was too much ink on my stamp and other times there was not enough. It was kind of frustrating. I made my design bird silhouettes and I got inspiration from this from multiple tattoo designs that I have seen. I thought they looked beautiful and thought it would be a fun shape to carve. If I did this project again, I would probably plan out where I was putting the stamps first. I went with the flow and it could have been more thought-out. I was surprised by how easily the linoleum block carved and how deep you had to carve to get the perfect shape. The process of this project was long, but not too difficult. First we traced the blocks and drew designs on them in pencil. Next, you had to use graphite on the back of the paper, and retrace it on the stamp to get an outline of the linoleum. You then use carving tools to make the stamp and put ink all over the brayer. You can then print the stamp in different designs and on different papers. |
