To begin the calligraphy unit, we watched a short video about the few Master Penman that are left in the world. Calligraphy is an art that is unfortunately going out of style but it still very beautiful. For the project, I decided to write a quote from a short story by Capote that I really liked. As I wrote, I practiced keeping the angle of the pen in one spot and making the letters look neat and eloquent. Then, I added a few images that I drew with the calligraphy pen and filled them in with watercolor. I liked the way some of my letters came out but if I could do this again, I would try to make it look neater. I would have preferred the words to be written in a straight line and the drawings to be more carefully drawn. Also, the first picture was a font I tried out before we began the unit and I used just water color rather than a calligraphy pen.
